Freedom

I stand amongst the souls tonight
Of all the heroes who did fight
The rich, the poor, the men just like you
The ones who died and the ones who lives through
For many men did lose their lives
And left behind their distraught wives
But freedom was their only goal
And to the death they fought heart and soul
So remember those who gave their all
And answered to their nations call
For what they gave was more than most
And so many failed to return to our coast
But victory that gave us all
So just remember all those who fall.

Pillow

As I lie here in my bed, I search for somewhere to place my head
The pillow where my sleep should start , is warm all over, in every part
I turn it over and around, but no cool patch is to be found
I sit back up and hope the heat, may disappear which would be sweet
But as I lie back down to sleep, once again all I feel is heat
Every position that I try, just leads me more to wonder why
Just one cool pillow is all I ask, but this is such a thankless task
Throughout the night I toss and turn, looking for the sleep I yearn
Them finally I fall asleep, just in time to hear the alarm go beep

Thoughts

I sit here wondering how this all came to be
Nothing is certain that is very plain to see
So I'll turn around and walk away
Hoping to find some better day

Regardless of what I came to believe
Everything is complex and hard to perceive
The flowers will still bloom and the stars will still shine
And fate is a burden that is there to remind

The mirror reflects all that we cannot see
And the truth it can burn to an endless degree
The water will soothe and the air will provide
Life is just something that keeps us alive

The colour has drained from the beauty around
It all disappears, never to be found
So look at the sky and imagine the blue
If you want to escape the thing that is you

The sweeter the honey, The sharper the tongue
The older the person, the heart becomes young
A random excess becomes all that we need
Our only expense is the desire to feed

Foolproof

We'll Make this foolproof, You and I
Stars exploding in the sky
Let's stay together till we die
Cause we'll be foolproof

The breath of life you give to me
When we're together you can see
You to me are energy
So when we kiss I know

We'll Make this foolproof, You and I
Stars exploding in the sky
Let's stay together till we die
Cause we'll be foolproof

Hand in Hand we will be
Together for eternity
Flying high we are free
And when we kiss I know

We'll Make this foolproof, You and I
Stars exploding in the sky
Let's stay together till we die
Cause we'll be foolproof

You are the roots that feed my tree
The guilty man I make my plea
No longer am I solitary
And when we kiss I know

We'll Make this foolproof, You and I
Stars exploding in the sky
Let's stay together till we die
Cause we'll be foolproof

Stronger

Fortune favours the brave they say, so where were you today
What is it that makes you better, than the people you meet along the way
Does the Man beside you, on the bus, not deserve his place
And why abuse the homeless man and shout right in his face
All because, that they don't fit, your perfect view of life
And your belief that all young men are carrying a knife
Just because they wear a hoodie, which is just to keep them warm
You decide, their not worthwhile and only can do harm
So when the old lady cries for help and collapses on the street
And you are just to busy staring at your feet
That young man is the one to help her, in her time of need
When you would just have left her, lying there to bleed
Look inside and maybe it is you who needs the help to see
Cause he is ten times stronger, than you could ever be

Mistakes

It's Foolish trying to tell me, that mistakes I've made aren't real
And pointless making comments, when you don't know how I feel
When interactions matter and conversations hurt
And words are said, that would be better, left down in the dirt
I'll make the worthless gestures and follow protocol
I'll try to make it better, but end up like a troll
They say we all learn lessons, but why is it so hard
When truth appears from deep within and leaves us marked and scarred
Time may pass, but still it strikes and punches at your heart
Reminders of the arguments, you wish you didn't start
Mistakes can pass, but only when they're small
It's the failures that consume you, as beneath the cracks you fall
I know I'll never save this time or be the one again
But always deep inside of me a part of you remains

Whoever Told You

Whoever Told you, that you can't be Strong and live your life your way
Whoever Told you, not to make a sound and have no words to say
Whoever Told you, it was wrong to feel, emotions deep inside
Whoever Told you, just to walk away and find a place to Hide
Whoever Told you, that the world out there, doesn't need your kind
Whoever Told you, just to follow on and never use your mind
Whoever Told you, not to reach your goals and never to succeed
Whoever Told you, not to ask for help and never feel the need
Whoever Told you, that the stars for you, were always out of reach
Whoever Told you, No one listens, whenever you make a speech
Whoever Told you, this must be wrong, cause all of it's untrue
Whoever Told you, this is jealous, because they can't be you

Fallen

Yesterday the world looked good in Golden shades of grey
But all the time I was looking out you drifted Far Away
Slipping through my fingers like the sand beneath my feet
The only thing I can do now is just admit defeat

I've Fallen from the edge of the world
I'm drifting in this Fog
I've Fallen into the depths of time
and I'm drifting like a log

My heart beats once, My heart beats twice, But only at half speed
I'm looking through this hazy sheen and trying not to bleed
I find no need to breathe down here suspended in the gloom
Floating in oblivion, forever in this room

I've Fallen from the edge of the world
I'm drifting in this Fog
I've Fallen into the depths of time
and I'm drifting like a log

My Brain tries to decipher, all that is around
I'd call your name if I could but I can't make a sound
My head spins in a million ways, pulling me apart
That word you said just killed my soul, just like a poison dart

I've Fallen from the edge of the world
I'm drifting in this Fog
I've Fallen into the depths of time
and I'm drifting like a log

I've Fallen from the edge of the world
I'm drifting in this Fog
I've Fallen into the depths of time
and I'm drifting like a log

Days

Searching for a sanctuary, a place that harm can't find
Somewhere that I feel safe and peace within my mind
looking through these black holes and finding nought but pain
A thunderstorm or lightning, that comes with driving rain
The mind plays tricks so many times, it's hard to know whats real
Or even to decipher, exactly what I feel
Waking every morning, with dread and fear inside
Knowing that the day, will leave nowhere to hide
I put on all my makeup and smile to all who pass
A fading false persona, that leaves me feeling crass
No protection offered and nothing left to gain
Yet another day, that always feels the same
I try to hide and disappear, from the human race
always I am looking, to find my own good place

Standing on this platform, the world is dark and Grey
As that train is leaving, I wave you on your way
I know that you are safe now, and Peace is now at hand
And now you’re watching over us, way up above this land
The umpire has called Stumps and your innings at an end
The final scores are noted and the scorebook has been penned
So now, when we look upwards, there’s a new star in the sky
And we know that up there, with the angels you will fly
But as your train is leaving, I wish that you could stay
But instead I stand here, and wave you on your way

How Lucky I Am

I couldn't believe my luck today
A Nigerian Prince had come my way
He wrote me a mail full of promise and joy
And this is just a few things that he wanted to say

I have 40 million dollars in a bank right here waiting just for you
I need you to release it cause I'm in a little stew
Some bad people want to steal it and your my only hope
I know it must seem strange to you but I am sure that you will make it through

Now how lucky was that, he somehow knew that I was a little short
And a tidy sum of money like this would help things to get bought
So I replied straight away and contacted this saviour to my life
And I told him that I hoped that all the bad people would get caught

I sat here so patiently waiting for the money to arrive
And after a few days I thought I hope he's still alive
He did say he was in danger when he sent that first email
So I sent him another letter and hoped he would reply

I hope that all is well with you and nothing is a miss
And soon you will be safe and well and able to reminisce
The money hasn't made it yet, but I guess it may be tough
Trying to ensure the funds go through the proper business

A few more days had gone right by when something strange occurred
I got a mail from a solicitor hoping that I'd heard
A chinese man had passed away and left me quite a sum
Wow I said who would have thought that I'd have been referred

So now I'm waiting for so much to pop up in my bank
So many people thought of me when there lives upturned and sank
How lucky this one man must be to randomly be their heir
And all I did was send them all my details!! and you thought I was a plank!

Little Things

Nothing much can shake you
The rock beneath's too strong
Each day is just a battle
That goes on for so long
When the worlds against you
And everything looks down
Something will release you
and help you lose the frown

Its just the little things that matter
The smallest moments that suffice
The little smiles that you remember
The tiny things that made you cry

Trying Too Hard

Somebody once told me that a life is only good for fifteen minutes
I didn't understand this quote and asked him to explain just what he meant
He told me of a story of a man who wanted everything around him
And all about the things he lost when looking back, he started to repent

Nothing ever lasts forever and only we can change our destiny
The man was losing touch with all the conversations flowing through his head
No matter what he faced in life the evil was just lurking down below
And now he's on his knees and thinking all about what everybody said

You are trying too hard
Don't push because it might be broken
You are trying too hard
Some of these words never need to be spoken
You are Trying Too Hard
The light went out when you lost emotion
You are trying too hard
It disappeared in all the commotion

The fast car and his model wife were never quite enough for what he wanted
always pushing further he let the things he loved just slip away
The alcohol and cigarettes would only satisfy him for a second
But now he needed something more to get him through the worst part of the day

The harsh realities were there very clear for everyone to see
The only person in the dark is always the star of the show
It could run right up and hit him in the face and he wouldn't even notice
Cause he's had a little high but now there is only once place that is left to go

You are trying too hard
Don't push because it might be broken
You are trying too hard
Some of these words never need to be spoken
You are Trying Too Hard
The light went out when you lost emotion
You are trying too hard
It disappeared in all the commotion

Better Than This

The thunder and lightning is gathering above
There's always a storm when push comes to shove
You can get in my mind and run me around
And you stay there all day without making a sound

I've felt better than this on days before
I may be losing the battle but I'm winning the war
The people all around will see what they see
But at the end of the day, for a good reason, I'm Just Me

Dark shadows surround me at the end of the day
And they look to attack in a particular way
Inside or Outside they will always be close
And it seems that they are upping the dose

I've felt better than this on days before
I may be losing the battle but I'm winning the war
The people all around will see what they see
But at the end of the day, for a good reason, I'm Just Me

Collapsed in a heap or standing up tall
Just as your starting to walk you are ready to fall
The light it is fading and darkness prevails
And once again come the imaginary tales

I've felt better than this on days before
I may be losing the battle but I'm winning the war
The people all around will see what they see
But at the end of the day, for a good reason, I'm Just Me

Broken Halo

Somebody told me that nothing is simple
Complications blocking the path on the way
A difference of opinion is expected as normal
But don’t make a sound as there’s nothing to say

I’m standing here looking at your broken halo
Wondering which moment that it fell to the ground
Looking for an answer to find out the question
Even though the question has already been found

The pictures that capture the moments that happened
Serve to remind us of the moments that passed
Looking through glasses that focus the mind
But the vision that greets us is fading so fast

I’m standing here looking at your broken halo
Wondering which moment that it fell to the ground
Looking for an answer to find out the question
Even though the question has already been found

Travel the road that leads us to nowhere
Taking the chance that nobody cares
Add something more than the simple extreme
Smile on your face and try not to look scared

I’m standing here looking at your broken halo
Wondering which moment that it fell to the ground
Looking for an answer to find out the question
Even though the question has already been found

Losing Your Mind

You look at your reflection time after time
You wonder if you are losing your mind
The smiles disappeared and the laughter has stopped
The tired eyes showing how far that you've dropped
You wonder what happened where did it go wrong
You can't even remember its just been too long
The state that you're in is an endless affair
You look in the mirror and just blankly stare
You once had a heart and everything flew
Those are the times that you want to renew
But the paths overgrown and the weeds choke your dreams
There is no escape or so it would seem
Is this the life that you're destined for
To wear that fake smile when you walk out the door
The time it will come when everything fails
And who'll pick you up when you come off those rails
The drink that once helped is now losing its touch
It was your escape now its becoming your crutch
What is the answer where on earth does it end
Maybe it doesn't, you'll just continue to descend

Insomnia

The hardest part is the night
The demons will come and look for a fight
They battle my soul for control of my brain
Looking for energy that they can drain
Thoughts shoot like bullets inside my head
Whilst looking for sleep, I'm thinking instead
Looking for answers to questions unasked
Visions of mistakes that have littered my past
Daytime relief is a long way away
But that is the time when I also will pay
Tired and exhausted from each nights melee
Finding it hard just to get through the day
I look for escape but it never arrives
Each nights events are no longer a surprise
Searching for sleep, now let battle commence
Here in my bed, I will start my defence

The Question

When you wake  in the morning and open your eyes
Look in the mirror put on your disguise
What do you think of, whats there in your head
Do you ask yourself questions that have never been said

Do you ever think, What am I doing here?
Do you look into the papers and read about the fear
Do you analyse yourself, to see what drives you on
Do you look back on your life and wonder where its gone
Do you look at those around and everything thats dear
Do you ever ask the question, what am I doing here?

Spending everyday at work to pay the bills
Do you feel your missing out on life and all its thrills
An office full of faces, all looking for a way out
We all will spend a little on the lottery no doubt

Do you ever think, What am I doing here?
Do you look into the papers and read about the fear
Do you analyse yourself, to see what drives you on
Do you look back on your life and wonder where its gone
Do you look at those around and everything thats dear
Do you ever ask the question, what am I doing here?

Do you turn off all the news to hide all the bad news
A murder. rape or killing, and lots of peoples views
What lurks beneath the surface of every place you go
The simple answer is that no one really knows

Do you ever think, What am I doing here?
Do you look into the papers and read about the fear
Do you analyse yourself, to see what drives you on
Do you look back on your life and wonder where its gone
Do you look at those around and everything thats dear
Do you ever ask the question, what am I doing here?

White Christmas

I wake Christmas morning and look all around, Everywhere white with the snow on the ground
A white Christmas happened just like they all wished, But it seems heavy and looks like a drift
Some people attempt to go out down their drives, but the way they are sinking they are risking their lives
Who would have thought it would ever get so deep, all over night whilst most of us were asleep
Well now we must think about what we will do, It looks like a problem no one can get through
The Christmas plans ruined as here we sit, thinking of relatives we were meant to visit
It all looked so good last night before bed, Dreams of Christmas Dinner had filled all our heads
But now we are left with just basics in house, some bread and some cheese I may as well be a mouse
I hope you are happy all that dreamed of this day, A perfect White Christmas as songs used to say
But families all split, kept apart by the snow, Isn't the way you all thought it would go
So next time you wish can you all at least say, I'd rather see family than Snow on Christmas Day

Winter

This Christmas when you look around, you see the sights and hear the sounds
The flashing lights that spark and glow, The homeless people lay below
The decorations in the shops, Entice us in and make us stop
We spend our cash and more besides, Just because we can’t decide
This for her and that for him, And one for me thats not a sin
The cold will bite as darkness falls, And we all leave the busy malls
Others drink and get merry, On alcohol and juice of berry
But some will sleep where we once walked, Whilst others they just pop more corks
The different worlds, stretch far apart, The roaring fire will warm our hearts
The roads will freeze and ice will form, the question is are we all really warm?
The answer lies out on the streets, under blankets, lay on seats
So whilst we celebrate with joy, The coming of a baby boy
Spare a thought for those who cannot, the ones that we have all forgot
You’ll see them everyday around, But most of them don’t make a sound
They sit and watch the world go by, The sit alone and wonder why
We maybe happy, we maybe sad, but I don’t really think we have it too bad
