White Christmas

I wake Christmas morning and look all around, Everywhere white with the snow on the ground
A white Christmas happened just like they all wished, But it seems heavy and looks like a drift
Some people attempt to go out down their drives, but the way they are sinking they are risking their lives
Who would have thought it would ever get so deep, all over night whilst most of us were asleep
Well now we must think about what we will do, It looks like a problem no one can get through
The Christmas plans ruined as here we sit, thinking of relatives we were meant to visit
It all looked so good last night before bed, Dreams of Christmas Dinner had filled all our heads
But now we are left with just basics in house, some bread and some cheese I may as well be a mouse
I hope you are happy all that dreamed of this day, A perfect White Christmas as songs used to say
But families all split, kept apart by the snow, Isn't the way you all thought it would go
So next time you wish can you all at least say, I'd rather see family than Snow on Christmas Day

Winter

This Christmas when you look around, you see the sights and hear the sounds
The flashing lights that spark and glow, The homeless people lay below
The decorations in the shops, Entice us in and make us stop
We spend our cash and more besides, Just because we can’t decide
This for her and that for him, And one for me thats not a sin
The cold will bite as darkness falls, And we all leave the busy malls
Others drink and get merry, On alcohol and juice of berry
But some will sleep where we once walked, Whilst others they just pop more corks
The different worlds, stretch far apart, The roaring fire will warm our hearts
The roads will freeze and ice will form, the question is are we all really warm?
The answer lies out on the streets, under blankets, lay on seats
So whilst we celebrate with joy, The coming of a baby boy
Spare a thought for those who cannot, the ones that we have all forgot
You’ll see them everyday around, But most of them don’t make a sound
They sit and watch the world go by, The sit alone and wonder why
We maybe happy, we maybe sad, but I don’t really think we have it too bad
