I’m watching the trees outside my room
The dulling light creates the gloom
A streetlight flickers, as it awakes
An eerie sight it starts to make
I sit in darkness, all alone
But not to cry, or gripe or moan
I like my life and where I’m at
I’ve lived my dreams of this and that
The darkness is falling faster still
As houses light up and streetlights fill
The daylight fades, but the night time sun
Lights the world, and peoples fun
I watch the people return from work
To just relax or go berserk
To pubs and clubs they all depart
As the evening becomes the start
They leave the hum drum all behind
For fun and leisure they will find
Some men on mobiles walk their dogs
The dogs chase rabbits and sniff at hedgehogs
A group of women pass my room
Off on a night out they all must zoom
The cars are driving far too fast
A gang of youths has just walked passed
They’ll cause some trouble for some poor soul
But they’ll be happy they made their goal
And as my eyes feel heavy and tired
I look at the world that I admired
The evening’s ending once again
But tomorrow they’ll be back, sunshine or rain
I close my eyes and drift away
To sunnier places where I will stay
Well for a while at least till morn
Then the day will be reborn
